Building Safety Month takes place in May every year and is internationally recognized for raising awareness in keeping buildings safe.
This initiative unites industries, associations, academia, and government under a common goal to protect the public by creating a safe and resilient environment. Our primary focus as the Plant Operations Team at Hudson Grande Senior Living Hudson, OH is keeping our residents, visitors, and staff safe.
There are multiple items I perform to safeguard our community. I have constant drills highlighting fires and other disasters. I have the local fire department come in twice a year for fire safety and fire extinguisher training. I was able to upgrade the camera system on a Capex from five cameras to over 40.
The role of plant operations is not just a “maintenance man”, it is the building safety and life safety of the people in it. I am most proud of developing an Active Shooter policy and the initial Covid response plan when the pandemic first started, which was adopted company wide as a quarantine triage.
I installed a camera system at my home, to monitor everything for security, and a fire and CO2 detection system. I have a plan in place for the family in case of a home invasion.
