A Culinary Career Built on Purpose

As Culinary Director at Hudson Grande Senior Living, I approach each day with passion, not just purpose. I face new challenges, hear new stories, and find fresh reasons to feel grateful. I’m excited to share how I arrived in this role, what fuels my dedication, and what a typical day looks like in our community. My work goes beyond preparing meals—it centers on building connections, creating purpose, and making a real difference where it counts.

A close friend, someone I had worked with before, inspired me to pursue this path. He had already joined Arrow, and when I was ready to leave traditional restaurants behind, he encouraged me to consider senior living. With a family at home, the improved work-life balance made the decision even easier.

Launching a food truck and helping run restaurants gave me valuable experience. Those roles taught me how to lead effectively while still working shoulder-to-shoulder with my teammates. That hands-on leadership approach prepared me for the demands of this role.

More Than Meals—It’s About Meaning

What I enjoy most about senior living is discovering just how much of an impact we can make. When I realize that simply showing up and caring deeply touches residents’ lives, it’s an incredible feeling.

Each morning, I start by checking in with my team to make sure they have what they need. Supporting them comes first. Once everyone is on track, I turn my attention to my own responsibilities.

To those considering a culinary career in senior living, I’d say this: it’s not just about the food. Building strong relationships with your team and your residents matters just as much. The connections you make every day are often more lasting than any dish you prepare.

Serving With Heart

For me, success is simple. Residents are well-fed and happy, and my team feels supported. I often tell residents, “My job is to fill you up and make you happy. If I’m not doing either, then we’re not doing our job.”

At the end of the day, I take pride in knowing I’ve contributed something meaningful—whether through a favorite meal, a warm exchange, or a small moment of comfort. Thank you for welcoming me into your community and allowing me to serve at your table. I’m truly honored.
